A Clutch Of Eggs: Crochet Patterns Release and a FREEBIE!

It’s time- my first amigurumi patterns are finally finished and ready for all of you to enjoy! I put a lot of love into these toys, in part because the prototypes belong to my own toddler (I am looking forward to showing you how I used them soon!) but mostly because I am excited to share my designs with you all. I hope that you love them and I can’t wait to see your creations!

Here’s how the pattern sales work: Each pattern is available individually, so if you only want the egg and one critter, that’s all you have to buy! However, if you want the whole set you will not only save $3 USD on the total price, you will get the PDF file for the bird hatchling. The bird is available for free below, but the PDF can be downloaded to your favorite device or printed quickly and easily, so it’s extra convenient.

Get the patterns from my Ravelry Store! Then enjoy the bird hatchling, below!

A small amount of fiberfill stuffing

Crochet hook- size F/3.75mm*

Tapestry needle

Pair of safety eyes OR black embroidery floss

Small scrap of felt and matching thread

*Gauge is not important for the size of this project, but you will need to achieve a very tight fabric that will not show stuffing between the stitches, so choose your hook size accordingly

Row 2: Ch 1, turn; sc, 2sc, sc (4 st)

Row 3: Ch 1, turn; 4 sc

Row 4: Turn; (Ch 3, sl st) across to make the picot edging. Break yarn and pull through to finish.

Finishing

Hatchling Bird inside its egg

Stitch wings to the side of the bird using the long tail left at the starting chain, work in tails securely. Weave in all remaining ends. Embroider eyes (if needed). Cut a small triangle from felt and stitch into place for the beak. The example shown uses a wide right triangle and is gently curved to create a 3D effect.

Use the Hatching Egg pattern to complete your set- the bird fits perfectly inside!
